Why not help us help the animals?! Small kittens without mothers often come
in and require 24 hour care, which we cannot provide for them at the shelter.
Foster homes are needed until the kittens are old enough to eat on their own
(anywhere between 6-8 weeks of age), at which
time are returned to the shelter to be vaccinated,
spayed/neutered, and made available for adoption.
We also have “special needs” animals that need a
quiet place to recover after surgery, heart worm
treatment, or they are just having a hard time
adjusting to life at the shelter. We ask that fosters
of our “special needs” animals attend adoption
events when possible, and network on their own to
place an animal (all potential adopters must fill out
an application and be screened by shelter staff).
We provide the training on how to care for the
animal(s), food, and medical care. Foster homes
provide a safe environment and TLC while the animal(s) grow and/or recover,
food/water, and transportation to and from appointments that are scheduled.
Foster parents have the first option of adopting the foster animal(s) when they
are ready. It’s a wonderful way of helping the animals without making an
outstanding time commitment.
Please contact the shelter and see if we have any young kittens or “special
needs” animals in need of your home and care. All fosters must fill out a foster
application and be approved before taking animals home. Please fill out an
application to be considered for this program. Applications can be
e-mailed to the Shelter Manager, faxed, mailed, or dropped off at the shelter
in person during our adoption hours. Lots of new friends are waiting to meet
